Gathering at Edale Wedding
When you get a couple who contact you a few days before their The Gathering at Edale wedding asking if they can have pictures on the top of Mam Tor then you know that you are in for a bloody great wedding. You can’t really get to the top of Mam Tor by car so Viki + Gareth climbed to the top in their wedding attire. Yes, Viki also did it in HEELS! Our couples seriously kick tradition in the NUT SACK!
Meet Viki + Gareth. Their wedding was held mid June on a rainy, windy, sunny, hot….well typical British day. The Gathering at Edale is such a great place to host a wedding. It’s cool, chilled, fun but not only that, you can hire the whole place, including the tents and lodges to yourself. You don’t just have to stick to one day for your wedding. You can have a whole wedding weekend just like these guys did. The Gathering at Edale really is the most wonderful setting for a wedding.
We arrived early doors to Edale and met Viki in the lodge and Gareth was getting ready in the flat just behind the lodge. Just like the day was, bride and groom prep were super chilled, filled with good friends and family.
Humanist Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony was held in the barn just at the side of the main gathering area at Edale. A nervous but very smiley Gareth awaited Viki at the top of the aisle. Maxine from Love Celebrant conducted the ceremony beautifully. Humanist ceremonies remain our favourites. They are so personal, honest, loving and fun. Gareth + Viki’s ceremony was delightful. After the humanist ceremony was concluded these guys headed out of the barn to be swamped with a bucket load of confetti before heading to the front of the building to eat and drink with their family and friends.
We took a few pictures of these awesome two just at the side of the buildings down a gorgeous green footpath but decided to make this short as we knew later we would be climbing a big bloody hill! 😉
The heavens opened just in time for food so everyone headed into the main building where they feasted on a good old roast dinner. It was finished with our favourite ice cream from Gingers. If you have never tried Chorlton Crack you need to immediately it is insanely good. After the food was finished the speeches commenced. Viki’s dad sung this absolutely wonderful song for the couple and their family. He wrote it many years ago and sang it to Viki as a child he accompanied it with the Ukulele and it had everyone in floods of tears.
Then it was time to jump in the car and head to Mam Tor. Viki + Gareth hiked to the top and man alive what a view! It was amazing. We messed about on the top, enjoyed the view, took lots of pictures and started to head down the hill just as the sun appeared for it’s 5 minutes of fame. It was a crazy 5 mins where we made V+G more or less run down a path to stand in the great light. They didn’t complain once and they trusted us 100%!
Peak District Wedding
After the hike up, we hiked back down the hill to head back to The Gathering in Edale.
The cake was cut, the pizza was flowing and it was time for the first dance. The Foo Fighters ‘Everlong’ played out, V+G headed to the dance floor. After about a minute everyone else joined them on the dance floor and they were ready for a party! When we say everyone we really do mean everyone! It was bloody amazing to watch and photograph. The dance floor filled up and stayed like that until we left for the evening.
V+G thanks for being totally awesome, fab and climbing Mam Tor. You guys were amazing and we have such great memories from your wonderful and relaxed Gathering at Edale Wedding. Thank you for having us along to shoot your day.
