A few months ago Sarah + Dave contacted us to ask if we were available to shoot their Ponden Mill Wedding and we were. We booked a holiday in 2019 that got moved to 2020 but then due to the ongoing travelling restrictions, we cancelled our holiday and S+D’s date happened to fall on the cancelled holiday date! What a stroke of luck!
Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready at her mum’s home while Dave and the boys learnt how to use the iron at their house 😉 After everyone was ready we all headed to the church in Shipley where these two would be married by Sarah’s uncle.
The weather (again for us this year) wasn’t the best and a torrential downpour was on the forecast! We managed to dodge the heavy rain up to and including just as the ceremony finished and everyone piling outside, We then got a text from a close friend who lived in Haworth where we heading to Ponden Mill asking how we were getting on in the rain. It was dry in Shipley but apparently not in Haworth! Cue us quickly orchestrating a confetti shot and we all jumped in the cars and headed towards Ponden Mill before the heavens opened. We have never seen rain like it on the way over from Shiply to Ponden. It was bouncing off the roof of Sarah + David’s Citroen 2CV wedding car and pouring down the road like a river! So much so we had to stop in the cars to have a break as we couldn’t see through the windscreen. Don’t you just love the Yorkshire weather!
Once we had a tiny clearing in the rain – It didn’t stop but the drizzle was fine, we headed onto Penistone Hill on Haworth Moor with these guys where we took some pictures on the moors to really show how amazing Yorkshire and the Haworth area is. Once we finished on the soggy moors we headed to Ponden Mill.
Ponden Mill is a new venue which we LOVE. Not only because it is owned and run by the loveliest people, the caterers are FANTASTIC, but we only live 5 mins away from the venue so, it is our stomping ground!
The rain cleared a little and everyone managed to eat the canapes outside before heading into Ponden Mill for the speeches and to finish off dancing the night away to the tunes of their friend spinning vinyl whilst sipping on some of the best cocktails outside of Leeds trendiest bars!
